Data Collection and Usage

OIData collects minimal user data necessary for account functionality. This includes:

  • Email address (used only for essential account notifications)
  • Basic account information (details such as name, phone number, etc)

Broker Connections

When you link a broker account, OIData stores only what is needed to operate the connection — the broker you selected, the connection status, the API credentials of the API app or API key you create in your own broker account (stored encrypted at rest), and the authorisation reference issued by your broker for the day. For brokers that provide their own hosted login page, you approve access on the broker's page and your broker password is never entered on, seen by, or stored by OIData. Some brokers (currently Shoonya, Zebu, TradeSmart, ProStocks and Firstock) offer no hosted API login page but their login format natively accepts a hashed password; for these, the daily login runs from OIData using credentials you save once — your Client ID, API key, TOTP secret, and your account password captured only as a SHA-256 hash computed in your browser before anything is sent. The password itself never reaches or is stored on OIData's servers; the hash and TOTP secret are stored encrypted at rest and used solely to perform the broker's documented API login. A further group of brokers (currently Angel One, mStock, Tradejini and Kotak Neo) additionally requires the actual login PIN, password or MPIN in their documented API login call — no hashed form exists on those interfaces. For these brokers only, that value is stored encrypted at rest (AES/Fernet) alongside your other credentials, is decrypted solely at the moment the daily login call is made to your broker, and is deleted when you unlink the broker. Each broker's connect screen states exactly which of these models applies before you save anything. The connection is used solely to display market data and analytics from your own SEBI-registered broker account: OIData does not receive authority to place orders and never places, modifies or cancels orders through your broker account. You can unlink a broker at any time, which invalidates the stored authorisation and deletes the stored credentials. Data displayed through your broker connection is shown to your account only and is never sold or shared.
