The contract
| Contract | Symbol | Lot | Price quoted in | ₹1 move, per lot |
|---|---|---|---|---|
CopperCOPPER | COPPER | 2,500 kg | ₹ per kg | ₹2500 |
Lot sizes as the exchange lists them on 27 October 2026; the exchange can revise them.
The copper contract
COPPER is 2,500 kg a lot, quoted in rupees per kilogram, so a ₹1 move is worth ₹2500 a lot. Each monthly option series is written on a copper futures month, which the chain shows as Fut.
A thinner chain
Copper's options trade far less than crude oil's or silver's — about 13,700 lots by 20:30 on 27 October 2026 against crude oil's 638,000 — so open interest gathers on a handful of strikes and a single large order can change the picture. The walls and max pain on a thin chain are worth reading alongside the OI change: a level that holds through the session means more than one that appears in a single print.
Copper follows industrial demand — China above all — and the international price, converted at the rupee rate.
Reading it on OIData
The chain, Trending OI, OI Stats, Futures OI and Dealer Positioning all cover copper, and the Commodities tab of each screener ranks it against the other eight. MCX trades from 09:00 to 23:30, or to 23:55 while US clocks are on winter time (early November to mid-March), and on some equity holidays it opens for the evening session only.
