MarketActivity

Track institutional positioning across FII, Pro, Client and DII participants in cash and F&O segments — daily, weekly, monthly and yearly.

What Market Activity shows

Participant-wise positioning for the Indian market: FII, DII, Pro and Client activity across the cash market and the F&O segment, from daily moves out to weekly, monthly and yearly views. NSE publishes who bought and sold each day — this page turns that raw release into net figures, changes and trend reads, so you can see which participant is driving the market and which side of it they are building.

How to read it

  • Cash Market tab — FII and DII buy/sell values and the net figure per day — the headline institutional flow number the market talks about every evening.
  • F&O tab — participant-wise open interest across index futures, stock futures, calls and puts — long versus short per participant, which is where positioning (rather than just flow) shows.
  • Net OI and change — where each participant stands now and how much that moved versus the previous session — the change is usually the signal, the level is the context.
  • Sentiment and trend — each participant's positioning summarised across your chosen lookback — daily for tactics, weekly and monthly for the campaign view.

Frequently asked questions

The exchange-published record of what Foreign Institutional Investors and Domestic Institutional Investors bought and sold. FIIs are the market's largest single force and DIIs are frequently their counterweight — the gap between the two flows is a standing sentiment read.

Because the same OI number means different things in different hands. Index futures shorts held by FIIs read differently from the same shorts held by retail Clients — participant-wise OI shows who holds which side, which is information a total can't carry.

NSE publishes participant-wise data after the market closes, typically in the evening. The page updates as soon as the release lands; intraday it shows the latest completed session.
